Incromega brand manufacturer Croda are focusing on the benefits of concentrated Omega 3 fish oil for cognitive health support with the launch of a targeted marketing approach based on their Incromega DHA platform.
Omega 3 lipids are primary building blocks for the brain and are essential for normal brain development in the early stages of life. DHA (docosahexaenoic acid) is the most abundant Omega 3 fatty acid in the brain and retina of the eye and is a component of the phospholipids that form the cell membranes of neurons, the foundation of the nervous system.
Incromega DHA concentrates are supported by the below EFSA (European Food Safety Authority) claims relating to pregnancy, breastfeeding and normal adult brain function:
• Contribute to normal brain and eye development of the foetus and breastfed infant (beneficial effect is obtained with a daily maternal intake of 200mg DHA in addition to the recommended adult daily intake of 250mg DHA+EPA)
• Contribute to the maintenance of normal brain function (beneficial effect is obtained with a daily intake of 250mg of DHA)
Croda’s Omega 3 Sales Director, Gerry Purnell, said “A deficiency of DHA in many modern diets is contributing to a huge rise in cognitive health problems. Croda’s high purity Incromega DHA concentrates provide the high levels of DHA necessary to support consumer needs by delivering cognitive health solutions.” Gerry will form part of the discussion panel on Omega 3s: Fact, Fiction and the Future at Nutrition Integrates 2015 in London on 4th June at 3:35pm.
